Will Obama’s Disdain for “Procedural Rules” Destroy America?

The most telling statement from the March 17 President Obama-Bret Baier donnybrook was this statement by the president:

"I don't spend a lot of time worrying about what the procedural rules are in the House or Senate," he said. That, in a nutshell, sums up Obama’s cavalier position on health care, immigration, and other vital issues facing this nation. It is shared by so-called other progressives such as Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. Roughly translated it means: “The rule of law, including the Constitution and implementing instruments, are symbolically important, but must never be allowed to delay or obstruct the greater good as defined by progressive elitists. “After all, the Founding Fathers were exclusively Caucasian males, Christian, overtly heterosexual, and English-speaking. “There were no women or people of color in their numbers. The interests of those who practice Islam, Buddhism, Hindu or who are atheist were not represented. Likewise, gays, lesbians, and transgender were ignored. “There were no impoverished poor, uneducated, or handicapped among the Founding Fathers who were, without exception, well educated and well to do. “Because of the appalling lack of diversity among the Founding Fathers, the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights simply do not apply to America in the 21st century.” That sort of convoluted thinking explains why the birth-certificate issue is irrelevant to Obama and the left. It's why Nancy Pelosi and those of her ilk believe that “reconciliation,” “slaughter house,” and other legislative gimmicks have merit. Progressives have no respect for American history and see no reason to be bound by precepts that are 234 years old. The acquisition of power through whatever means necessary is all that matters to demented liberals. The big question: Can such wrongheaded thinking be corrected in a civil manner?
