Will VA Flunk BLUF Test?

Chaps Collins, we keep you in our prayers as you inspect VA’s hottest pits—do not fall in them.

When President Trump appointed an ex -NAVY chaplain Douglas A. Collins to serve as VA’s Secretary, my first thought was: finally, someone noticed the department needs exorcisms.

Anyone who has stared into the depths of corruption, endured waitlist scandals, and slammed into walls of red tape knows that Chaps Collins is up against hell.

Veterans have no reason to trust VA

After years of systemic abuse, Veterans have no reason to trust VA, particularly when ‘cuts’ are being mentioned, and will stand up to defend their rights, rightly so, refusing to be silenced after years of neglect.

It’s impossible to address the abyss of problems and needs in one short article, so let’s start with two urgent issues: homelessness and the patronizing way the VA treats veterans.

Even before any discussion breaks out, if Collins can straighten VA’s azimuth on these matters, the whole department must pass a ‘cognitive test’. Right now, all the questions in their own ‘multiple choice’ are wrong—so there’s simply no way to get a correct answer.

No matter where you look, the reasons for rampant Veterans ‘homelessness are listed as follows: ”PTSD and mental health issues”, then “substance abuse” and “difficulty translating military skills into sustainable civilian employment” (National Veterans Homeless Support)

Please note that all of the above-mentioned factors are either a direct result of housing instability or are exacerbated by it. This points to a systemic failure to adequately support those affected.

How about: VA ‘s been feeding homeless Veterans a soup sandwich and heating them by VA’s own dumpster fire?

An example of VA’s communication style can be seen in a message issued last winter, presented as “reassuring” : “As the storm approaches, Veterans are reminded that it is normal to feel stress, worry or frustration, especially if storms disrupt routines, trigger memories or add financial strain. (VA News, Jan. 23, 2026)

” I’m sure that Veterans experiencing homelessness would never have realized it’s “normal” to worry—given that their alternative is freezing to death. Apparently, one has a high IQ when sent into combat, but that intelligence seems to “shrink” once they become a disabled veteran—particularly when seeking help from the VA.

To rub salt in the wound, an injury occurring years after discharge, such as frostbite sustained while homeless, is considered a "non-service-connected" event. Meanwhile, service -connected disabilities exacerbate the severity of frostbite and "lethality of homelessness". As a “ military bonus” Veterans tend to stay homeless longer than other members of population. When will this insanity end?

Why not give a reality check to the paper pushers diagnosing the ‘mental health’ of warriors who have been systematically destroyed by economic disenfranchisement? Let’s house you in a tent when temperatures drop below 32°F, watch you through every thaw-and-refreeze cycle until wet gangrene makes amputation necessary, and then have a VA Pharisee lecture you on your “declining mental health,” feasting on your suffering while draping himself in the sanctimonious mantle of concern.

Punch him in his smug face, and voilà: PTSD diagnosis, once more.

VA squandered millions meant for Veterans, harassed own whistleblowers, and hunted Veteran rights advocates, all while fat cats and swamp politicians pocketed the loot. Obama was about my military not my veterans, Biden came up with “ clap for that, you stupid bastards”

Trump gets Thucydides’ warning: “A society that separates scholars from warriors gets thinking from cowards and fighting from fools”. He’d rather opt for Prioritizing Military Excellence and Readiness, and cognitive tests for leaders—mediocrity in VA won’t fly. Cleared hot:Follow the money, BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front)test the execs, and exorcise the myths of PTSD—accountability starts now.

Chaps Collins, we keep you in our prayers as you inspect VA’s hottest pits—do not fall in them.
