'Win The Fight Before It Begins': The Power of Planning

Practice the power of planning. You'll be glad you did;

I just posted this thread on social media:

'Win the fight before it begins' by envisioning what could go wrong around you and rehearse plans to address threats and adverse situations.

At worst, you spent time imagining. At best, you got a leg up on bad intentions impacting you.

Trust me, it works.

I once confined a violent trespasser who was high that I had to pepper spray inside an elevator b/c it was something I'd planned if someone was out of control, which he was.

Whatever he was on had him speaking in another voice and his eyes were muddy red.'

The above scenario involved deactivating the elevator in a building where I was once head of security after throwing a crazed trespasser into it.

It was a plan I had in mind and rehearsed for some time.

That's the advantage of advance planning and rehearsal long before something happens.

The suspect was out of control, on drugs, mentally ill to boot and wrestled with me and an armed uniformed security officer like a person possessed.

Instead of coming up with something literally in the clinches, I chose this worst case containment plan and executed it.

When it was all over, one of the responding police officers silently applauded my ingenuity after the suspect was arrested.

The power of planning helps us win fights before they begin by not getting caught flatfooted in the first place.

I strongly recommend advance planning if for no other reason than the opposition has hostile planning cycles where they plan to win fights against us in advance, too.

Practice the power of planning.

You'll be glad you did.
