Wisconsin recount over; Trump margin of victory grows by 131 votes

And there wasn't. Not even the tinest of doubts. This whole thing was designed to make Jill Stein a lefty hero and raise money for the Green Party while daring the courts to refuse the recounts - as they ultimately did in Michigan and Pennsylvania - and thus allow the left to claim Trump's election was illegitimate. (Of course, they are creative and can find other ways of doing that.)

But the claim that a recount would have given the election to Hillary was always going to be hard to sell, and it's impossible now. Even if all three states had completed recounts, Hillary would have needed all three to miraculously shift into her column. The only one that was actually finished - Wisconsin - ended up doing the opposite of that:

The numbers barely budged in Wisconsin after nearly 3 million votes were recounted. Trump picked up a net 131 votes and the final results changed just 0.06 percent.

In other words, the votes missed the first time around and picked up in the recount pretty well comported to the percentages we saw among the votes that were counted originally, which is why the overall percentage changed so little, but what tiny change there was ended up in Trump's favor. The trends were no accident, and the recount confirmed them. Trump won. You can say Stein has egg on her face, but the truth is Stein doesn't care. She never for a second thought Hillary was going to become president via the recounts. But by throwing up this Hail Mary, Stein got more attention for herself than she ever got during the campaign itself, and she got an awful lot of e-mail addresses. Those are gold if you're a political activist looking to raise money for causes you intend to support once you, er, pay administrative expenses, travel expenses, put gas in your car, etc.

It beats working for a living. I've been in the private sector, Venkman. They expect results. It's just as well, I suppose, because the left has already moved on from the recounts to the narrative in which the Russians stole the election by rottenly letting everyone know that John Podesta and crew think Christians are backwards fools. Those things were supposed to be secrets! And if they'd remained secrets, surely Hillary would have won. Time to brief the electoral college so they can do the right thing and elect Hillary president. No less than Podesta himself is demanding it. I guess when all you've got is your place in ClintonWorld - which is about to become completely worthless - you've got to loft up whatever miracle pass you've got.
