The corrupt work visa program should be scaled back dramatically or ended entirely

Work Visas Are Corporate Welfare

Milton Friedman made the statement years ago and it holds true today granting work visas to work in the third most populated country in the world is simply corporate welfare.

Years ago Congress approved NAFTA so American companies could move to Mexico and send their products back into the country without tariffs. A Ford factory worker on the floor in the Ford plant today makes $7 a day! Following NAFTA many trade agreements were made around the world allowing American companies to shed American workers and move their plants overseas where labor is measured in pennies per hour. Employers who for various reasons couldn't take advantage of moving like Disney have corrupted Congress into issuing work visas so they can cut their labor costs. The reason employers pull the shenanigans they do to avoid American workers for foreign workers is simply the costs involved. It is estimated in a Center for Immigration Studies paper employers avoid Trust Fund costs such as medicare and social security by hiring foreign workers and their estimate is over $1.5 Billion a year is avoided in this manner with Disney avoiding over $3 million in costs. The result is the funds suffer as well as American workers are denied the jobs. A great example is the pork filled bill S 744 passed by the senate where Senators Schumer, Graham, Leahy, Bennet, Murkowski, Begich, Collins, Tester, Sanders, Kirk, Hatch, Heller and Reid all got work visas approved. This exposes the senators work for their corporate benefactors rather than the working citizens who elected them. In days past it would be an outrage to suggest let alone shun American workers for foreign workers. This activity exposes the corruption in Congress especially when you have visas for such unskilled jobs as maids and lawn mower operators. Politicians will say the companies have to try and find American workers before they can hire foreign workers but there is a cottage industry of law firms instructing employers on how to avoid hiring Americans. The corrupt work visa program should be scaled back dramatically or ended entirely. When Congress actively enables corrupt corporations to avoid Trust Fund costs by hiring foreign workers and costing Americans jobs it is time to put an end to it and their careers as politicians.
