MORTON: We Shouldn't Be Fighting With Ourselves Over Alberta's Deficit But With Ottawa!

The Government of Alberta’s Wednesday budget update was not encouraging. It’s hard to get excited that the projected deficit for this year is down from $24 billion dollars to $21 billion. Yes, there has been some uptick in job creation since the March-April collapse, but we are not expected to return to 2019 levels until 2023. And then there is the issue of balancing the budget in their first four years—a key promise of the Kenney government in the 2019 election.

PM TRUDEAU IMPLEMENTING THE GREAT RESET IN CANADA!

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has now openly referred to his federal government’s post-COVID-19 economic policies as complying with “The Great Reset”, the title of a document first published in 2016 by the World Economic Forum (WEF). Our Canadian PM is focused on using the uncertain times created by the pandemic to “Build Back Better” and reshape our country’s economic and social make-up.

This is the Real Deal!

The UCP has stated that they want a Fair Deal for Alberta in Canada. On the list of objectives in order to secure a Fair Deal, all but one involves spending scarce provincial tax dollars while still sending billions in federal tax dollars to Ottawa every year, and getting little in return. Only one initiative relates to political reform, wanting to have Alberta’s Senators be elected by Albertans, rather than appointed by the federal government. Very laudable, but only window dressing.

Have you heard about a movement called the Great Reset? As an Albertan, it is something you need to be aware of since it poses a serious risk to our province. The Great Reset is the newest name for a series of policies which seek to "reimagine" how governments and economies operate in the post-coronavirus world. VIVE LE QUEBEC LIBRE

Let’s not forget what really started the raping of Canada by Quebec elitists and by the Quebec based and notoriously corrupt Liberal Party. That event was the “Vive le Québec libre” speech by Pierre Trudeau’s other socialist buddy, Charles de Gaulle. This was the beginning of the end of the Canada we knew and was embraced by socialist elitists like Pierre Trudeau and Rene Leveque. This speech began their attack on Canada under both the Liberal party and the spin off separatists parties that developed from that event. That was in 1967and even though I was a teenager at the time, it sent chills down my spine as I considered what this meant for Canada.

There Is A Socialist Coup Unfolding In Canada, And We Taxpayers Are Funding It!

Under this socialist revolution, there is no need to confiscate your property - they can simply redistribute your wealth. Canada is quietly going through a socialist coup. If I had written these words just one year ago, it would have been deemed conspiratorial. But I have heard from too many Canadians over the past six months about what they have seen taking place. Ever since Justin Trudeau tried to grant himself king-like powers at the beginning of the COVID crisis, what we have been witnessing in Canada is a socialist coup that we, the taxpayers, are funding.

Trudeau's Post Covid Economic Disaster!

In both the throne speech, and the following speech to the UN, Trudeau clearly indicated he does not intend to return to the pre-Covid Canadian economy. Trudeau talked of a post-Covid "new green, low carbon, fair and equitable society and economy", alluding to UN's Agenda 2030 dictates on globalism, and a new world order, both politically and economically, all wrapped up under a UN based central world government and new world currency, at least for those countries who join in.

O'Toole's Capitulation to Quebec

Erin O’Toole has been conservative leader for only a few weeks and not surprisingly that’s exactly how long it took him to throw Alberta under the proverbial bus. Shortly after his coronation, O’Toole stated that, “if elected Prime Minister I would ensure pipeline projects in the West continue to grow and spark the rest of Canada’s economy, there are projects (east to west pipelines) that will help us get a better price for Canadian resources, this is a resource that is important to our national interest, we better get the best world price we can as we’re recovering”.

Trudeau's Radical Economic Schemes Line Up With His Praise Of Communists!

Many assumed that Trudeau was just joking when he said he admired the Chinese Communist Dictatorship the most, or when he praised Communist Fidel Castro. Now, with Trudeau planning a massive ‘reshaping’ of the nation to massively expand government, cripple the economy, and drown us in debt, Trudeau’s agenda increasingly lines up with that of Communist states. Has Justin Trudeau been slowly moving Canada in the direction of a socialist or Communist state? The best answer to that question can be found in what Trudeau is planning to do now that he feels he can exploit a crisis.

The Great Pipeline Hoax!

Have you ever wondered why pipelines are considered a horrible environmental blight in Canada, but nowhere else in the world? The answer is that Canada cannot market its oil and gas products without pipelines. If vested interests want to keep Canada out of participating in the world petroleum markets, they only have to demonize pipelines, making it impossible to extend or build new pipelines to seaports and domestic markets and the mission is accomplished.

SCREW THE WEST, WE'LL TAKE THE REST!

Liberal organizer Keith Davey, during a 1980 election, coined the slogan “Screw the west, we’ll take the rest”. The election brought back Pierre Trudeau and his government installed the notorious National Energy Program (NEP). NEP damaged Alberta and the oil-rich west, bringing in the infamous bumper stickers: “Let the eastern bastards freeze in the dark”. Trudeau damaged more than the western economy with his cynical legislation - he seriously aggravated a longstanding suspicion in the west that the Liberal Party was more vampire than friend.

Fear and Greed!

If Alberta truly seeks to separate, it must employ more than fear – the desire to leave the deficiencies of Canada’s confederation. It must employ greed - the desire to attain something of much higher value. The prizes for separation are numerous and spectacular. Consider Switzerland. It too is landlocked. It lacks Alberta’s massive resource and agricultural wealth. Yet it’s per-capital GNP is US$83k or 60% more than Alberta’s per-capita GNP of US$52k. Imagine what prosperity would ensue if Alberta was run Swiss-style.

Canada, A Country That Is Not!

The prosperity and freedom generated by the sacrifice, diligence and commitment of the generations that fathered Millennials and their offspring, has persisted for too long; leading to the entitlement mentality and financial ignorance that permeates most of the electorate who are either electing those that presently govern Canada, or who themselves will be providing such alleged leadership in the future.

The Need For An Alberta Constitution

Thomas Jefferson, in his wisdom, wrote “In questions of power, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the constitution.” The dictionary offers a drier take on the role of a constitution: “the basic principles and laws of a nation, state, or social group that determine the powers and duties of the government and guarantee certain rights to the people in it.” Whether you prefer the vivid imagery of Jefferson or the academic definition, the point stands that a constitution exists to preserve liberty by restraining the government. A proper constitution, put in place by the governed, sets hard limits on the powers of those who govern, binding them down from mischief and overreach.

Elizabeth May, MP and Yves-François Blanchet, MP have at last revealed that they are united in a single purpose, the failure of Canada. In calling the global oil and gas industry dead, they have revealed their common cause, the demise of the country. Regrettably, far too many people at the helm of government concur; too few disagree. May is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Blanchet is a wolf in wolf’s clothing (to quote Churchill).

Pontification Professors Are No Help!

“One should never do anything without skin in the game. If you give advice, you need to be exposed to losses from it.” Nassim Taleb, 2016 265 academics, mostly university professors, offered advice via an open letter to Prime Minister Trudeau. Click here That advice: Please withhold financial aid to western Canada’s struggling oil and gas sector because, to do otherwise, would be a “regrettable decision.”

The existential Fight For The Future Of The West Itself

I may sound pessimistic, but I believe that Alberta has now moved beyond trying to convince the rest of the country of the importance of the oil industry. I believe we are in a fight for the future of Alberta proper and all her industries, not just resource development. Ironically, we also must fight for the future of the indigenous peoples of the West. Without our insistence of their right to resource development on their reserve lands, they have no future either.

THE PALTRY $2.5 BILLION "RETURN OF FUNDS"!

The $2.5 billion return of funds from Ottawa to Alberta is simply that, a return of funds from Ottawa back to Alberta from whence it came. This transfer of capital is a mere pittance of what is needed to inject real stamina into the industry that drives the national economy. Once reality sets in and Albertans realize how insignificant this amount of money is, then and only then will we realize how little interest this Liberal government has in the social fabric of Alberta or welfare of Albertans.

In June the federal Conservatives will pick a new leader. While most Conservatives still seem to believe they'll be picking a candidate to take on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in the next election, the odds of that appear to be diminishing by the day. Since being reduced to a minority government in the October 21 election, Mr. Trudeau appears to have lost whatever fire he had in his belly for governing. Since the election, he has essentially ceded all the tedious work of government on major matters to Deputy PM Chrystia Freeland.
