Jay Carney: Just doing his job

I wonder how White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, or anyone in the Obama administration manages to sleep at night or look themselves in the mirror.

A presidency falling apart

Yesterday, Barack Obama once again rejected Israeli Prime Ministers Benjamin Netanyahu’s request for a meeting because of a scheduling conflict while in New York. In almost the same breath, he announced he’d appear on the David Letterman Show. Of course we all know the president is a very busy man, and he does have his priorities.

Don’t eat the apple: A story for our times

Eve stood in the shade of the apple tree and enjoyed the cool breeze as it played against her skin. She ran her finger along the plump red fruit. Her mouth watered at the thought of its promised juiciness. Everything in the garden pleased her. This should too, but she also knew of the prohibition of eating anything from this tree.

Divide and Conquer

From the “Hope and Change” rhetoric of 2008, Barack Obama has modified his theme to “Divide and Conquer,” but he hasn’t put it on a bumper sticker. In fact, he hasn’t mentioned it once. I guess he’s hoping the rest of us won’t notice. But for the past four years, this president has either blamed his predecessor, President George W. Bush, for his woes, or practiced class warfare par excellence. He has pitted different segments of society against others, as he cleverly demonized one side in an effort to gain support from the other.

Not my sacred cow!

I picture a family sitting around a kitchen table with their bills spread out before them. The total due exceeds income by several times. They are smart enough to know that at the very least they need to cut their spending.

I want my country back

June 28: A day that will live in infamy. Today the Supreme Court released its ruling on Obamacare, that hideous monstrosity that unleashed unlimited federal power upon the people it purports to serve. This law was never about delivering health care to Americans, but growing government power, and it has achieved its aim.

Obama’s war on liberty

The Health and Human Services (HHS) mandate is just part of the warning salvo that the Obama administration has belched from its canons dedicated to tearing down the structure of Capitalism and rebuilding our economy and our society in the image of socialism. The initial attack came with the passage of Obamacare, that hideous monstrosity of which that Nancy Pelosi said, “We have to pass this bill so we can see what’s in it.”

Clear and Present Danger: Obamacare

In 1955 when Tennessee Ernie Ford sang “Sixteen Tons,” American society chalked it up as something belonging to the long-lost past . Listen to the lyrics because they could well become part of the American future. The federal government could transform itself into the “Company Store” and We the People its slaves.

Beware the Smart Electric Meter—It’s Coming for YOU!

Many electric companies have installed “Smart Meters” on homes all over the country, and they plan to do the same with every house in America, including yours. These nifty little electronic wonders track when you turn something on or off, and how many watts your appliances pull. They also have the added feature of being radio transmitters, and as such, they send the record of electric usage over wireless networks that bounce from smart meter to smart meter to its final destination, a computer at the electric company.

The Debt Deal’s Dirty Little Secret

Throughout the “debt crisis” debate, the administration kept saying we had to raise the debt ceiling to avoid default and a downgrading of our credit rating. They were wrong.

The writing on Obama’s wall

Last week, leaders of the House democrats emerged from a caucus meeting with words of advice for Barack Obama: Invoke the Constitution to resolve the debt standoff. If Congress can't reach a long-term deal on the debt limit increase by August 2, Obama should "sign an executive order invoking the 14th Amendment," said Assistant Minority Leader James Cyburn (D-S.C.).
