Paging Orwell: Baltimore dismantles and removes four civil war statues in the dead of night

I'll be honest. I'm a little torn on the whole "Civil War statue" issue. Thanks to an elongated family tree, my great-grandfather fought for the Union in the Civil War and (all racial issues aside) there's part of me that doesn't completely understand the need to lionize people who would have killed him and seen the country torn asunder. That said, I also despise fascism, understand the "it's part of history" argument, and am appalled by the footage of angry mobs ripping these relics down.

New Report: Sorry Dems, there was no 'Russian hack' - it was an inside job

If you wandered into any left-leaning blogs, forums, or news sites over the course of the last year, you were likely to see a paragraph that looked like this:
"Russia. Russia Russia. Putin. Russia, Putin, Russia. Evil Trump. Racism, hate and bigotry. Russia, Trump supporters almost as evil as Trump. Putin, Putin, Putin."

Theater critics trash Michael Moore's one man show - because even they're sick of his tedious schtick

What can you say about shlubby millionaire Michael Moore that hasn't been said before? After listing his northern Michigan home (which he once told me he didn’t recognize in a photo) for a cool $5 million, he's been forced to divide his time among his other 8 homes - including an equally lavish multi-unit Manhattan condo. He is, without question, an exceptionally hypocritical member of the one-percent he claims to despise.

Politico poll: Strong voter support for Trump immigration overhaul

Well, well, well. The Politico is just chock full of interesting tidbits this week. Not only have they acknowledged that Debbie Wasserman Schultz is toxic, they've also been forced to admit that President Trump's immigration overhaul - which the left pilloried last week - is not.

New House GOP ad: 'While you're focusing on chaos, here's what we've been doing'

Over the weekend, I visited a friend in Detroit. He was complaining about Trump and I was forced to admit that I shared many of his concerns. The President tends to be unpleasantly boorish, he shoots his mouth off a lot, and I've made no secret of the fact that I see a lot of chaos in this White House.

Pence blasts the New York Times over his supposed 'shadow campaign'

If you're a progressive - and you're not Kathy Griffin - your greatest dream is to see the impeachment of President Donald Trump. Lefties appear to be split pretty evenly into two camps: The first is just sane enough to know that this probably isn't going to happen. The second is sure that the latest phony scandal, no matter how idiotic the headline is, is evidence that "they've got him" and he's going down at any second.

AP: John Kelly calls Jeff Sessions to tell him he's not being fired

The whole flap over Attorney General Jeff Sessions began with his recusal from the Russia investigation. Dan and I have both argued that, while the recusal wasn't necessary, President Trump's subsequent angry rants were anything but helpful.
