CBS News Anchor Katie Couric denounced what she perceives as anti-Muslim bigotry in this country and suggested a Muslim version of “The Cosby Show” to counteract it. This new show, in Couric’s mind, could enhance the image of Muslim-Americans much as the “Cosby Show” did for African-Americans.
Apparently, the trigger for Couric was the intense opposition to the building of the $100 million, 15 story Islamic mega mosque and community center complex so near Ground Zero. Frankly, however, I don’t think that any mushy, feel-good TV sitcom featuring Muslims will help the survivors of 9/11 or the families and friends of those who perished that day get over what happened that day. I don’t think it will make them stop believing it is just a wee bit insensitive to build an Islamic tower so close to the World Trade Center Towers where nearly 3000 innocent people were slaughtered by radical Muslims.
How about some reality TV instead that can showcase the truth about radical Islam? Just a thought, but in case Couric is willing to come out of her politically correct, left-minded media bubble, here are ten ideas for her to consider in no particular order:
