Brooklyn, N.Y. … Four distinguished individuals and organizations were the recipients of the 2010 Service Award from the Downstate New York Division of the Polish American Congress (PAC).
Shown above (from left, holding plaques) are Assemblyman Joseph R. Lentol who represents Greenpoint’s Polish American community in the N.Y. State Legislature; Caroline Kowalczyk of Long Island’s Polish Gift of Life, an organization with a record of nearly forty years helping children in Poland get life-saving cardiac surgery; Rev. Wladyslaw Kubrak, vicar at Ridgewood’s St. Matthias R.C. Church. Rev. Kubrak was a member of the PAC’s executive board before he decided to become a priest. The fourth recipient was the Chopin Foundation represented by Dr. Elzbieta Wirkowski and Tomasz Chabowski (far right). The Chopin Foundation promotes the appreciation of the music of the great Polish composer, Frederick Chopin, particularly this year which is the composer’s 200th birthday. Standing in back of the recipients are officials of the PAC’s Downstate N.Y. Division: Frank Milewski, president; Vincent Brunhard Jr., executive vice president and Bozena Kaminski, vice president. image
