“Creating a pathway to earned citizenship for the 11 million unauthorized immigrants in this country is essential. The way we treat our friends and neighbors who are undocumented – by creating a mechanism for them to earn citizenship and move out of the shadows – transcends the issue of immigration status. This is a matter of civil and human rights. It is about who we are as a nation. And it goes to the core of our treasured American principle of equal opportunity."Thus, in the midst of the bitter debate over immigration reform and the absurd argument that America owes 11 million invaders a path to citizenship as part of cleaning up the illegal alien mess, one of America’s chief law enforcement officials has come down on the side of the absurd. To wit,
Equal opportunity now encompasses the right to ignore a sovereign nation’s borders, defy that nation’s immigration laws, and expect to be rewarded with citizenship?Egad, given that stupefied illogic, why would anyone ever bother with legal immigration?
John W. Lillpop is a recovering liberal. “Clean and sober” since 1992 when last he voted for a Democrat. For years, John lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, the very liberal sanctuary city which protects, rather than prosecutes, certain favored criminals. John escaped the Bay Area in May and now lives in Pine Grove California where conservative values are still in vogue.
