TORONTO, – On the eve of Yom Kippur, when Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is slated to address the United Nations General Assembly, B’nai Brith has renewed its call for the Security Council to take action on his incitement to genocide of the Jewish people.
Frank Dimant, CEO of B’nai Brith Canada issued the following statement: “We have asked the Government of Canada to urge the Security Council to refer to the International Criminal Court (ICC) the ongoing incitement to genocide of the Jewish people by Iran’s leadership. The ICC has a mandate under international law to act in this matter. Iran’s president continues to openly call for the Jewish State to be wiped off the map, and sponsors terrorist groups to attack Israeli civilians and Jewish communities around the world. “We know what the Iranian President has to say and we have no doubt that he will repeat his anti-Jewish incitement. For the United Nations to allow him a presence on the world stage to repeat that incitement on Yom Kippur, the most revered day of the Jewish year, is doubly disgraceful. “The only platform the Iranian President should be given is before the International Criminal Court.”
