AOC Once Again Trashes ICE And Takes the Criminal’s Side

AOC, like all DSA members, has her priorities inverted. What’s so disturbing about their reasoning is that they don’t care about facts. They will use any opportunity to mount up on their delusional pulpit to lecture anyone who will listen to their lies and fabricated exaggerations.

The Department of Homeland Security identified 28-year-old Oscar Belgal as an illegal alien with a significant history of encounters with law enforcement.

In December 2025, Belgal was arrested by the NYPD on drug charges that were not eligible for bail. In December 2023, he received a five-year probation sentence after pleading guilty to a lesser charge in a robbery case. Additionally, Homeland Security Investigations monitored him due to his involvement with the Trinitarios gang.

This individual is a known criminal who is currently in our country illegally. He has past arrests for robbery, drug possession, weapon possession, and assault, yet liberals try to portray him as a saint.

Last week, after receiving lawful orders to surrender, he began to drive his car forward and accelerated, prompting one of the ICE agents to fire his weapon in response.

Senior ICE official Marcos Charles said during a news conference on Friday that:

“Our officers, using their training and believing that their life and the live of the partners and the general public were in danger, used their training and fired weapons.”

At the time of the encounter, Belgal had a five-year-old boy in the back seat, which the ICE agents were unaware of. Of course, to AOC, this was a perfect time to try to appear noble, even if it meant twisting the truth.

“Today in Marble Hill, ICE agents fired multiple shots at a man in his vehicle while his 5-year-old child was in the back seat.”

“ICE’s already unwelcome presence in our city has been growing more escalatory and dangerous by the day. Today’s shooting is a grave development that requires a swift and immediate response to protect the safety of all New Yorkers.”

“First, we must have a full and independent investigation of this incident. There must also be a full and immediate release of all body camera footage of the incident.”

She then tried to drag Target stores into the fray:

“In addition, the Target Corporation must stop offering their Bronx properties as private staging sites for ICE, in compliance with requests from New York officials. Target opening up large, active retail parking lots for paramilitary activity is unacceptable and places the entire community at risk.”

Notice that during this entire rant by AOC, she vilifies ICE and places the real criminal, Belgal, on some sort of pedestal. ICE did not place the five-year-old in danger; Belgal did that himself by disobeying the ICE orders and accelerating his vehicle towards them, knowing full well he was placing the child in harm’s way.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin stated that the ICE agents felt their lives were in danger at the time of the shooting. He stated that Belgal is from the Dominican Republic and has previous arrests. He mentioned that agents initially attempted to detain Belgal in September, but he fled. They decided not to pursue him until Thursday.

Mullin stated that the agents were unaware a child was in the car and claims that Belgal accelerated his vehicle, crashing into two other cars.

Another fact AOC and her ilk failed to mention.

"We identified ourselves and gave lawful orders as we approached the vehicle. There was no question who was approaching the vehicle. Not to mention, he knew he was wanted. He fled once he knew he was wanted. It wasn't like it was unexpected to him. When you flee, especially for a criminal like him, he knows that officers aren't going to give up on him.”

Mullins added:

"He is now in custody after the actions taken yesterday by our ICE officers. The subject of the investigation involved the shooting of a CBP officer two years ago. The gang that he runs with is known for theft using weapons and mopeds.”

Harold Solis, a lawyer with Make the Road New York, represents Belgal, and he also tried to fool the public by telling only what he wants people to know.

"Regardless of whether or not someone has a criminal history, it is not lawful; it is not okay to shoot a father in the afternoon with his son in the backseat. That is not how we resolve legal disputes in this country. We resolve them in buildings like these, in courtrooms."

Gov. Kathy Hochul, a typical Democrat, will never let a perceived crisis go unused.

"I have over 500 law policing agencies in the state of New York. They issue hundreds of thousands of arrests every single year, but they don't shoot into vehicles not knowing what's inside. They don't shoot into vehicles at all. They don't go into a neighborhood and shoot in the afternoon near a school. There are restraints on everybody else except for ICE."

All of which is nothing more than another lie.

Hochul and other officials refuse to cooperate with ICE, which births situations like this. Their hallucinations of what's fair and what isn’t are ludicrous, and they are forcing them onto the general public.

ICE exists in its present form because of the Obama and Biden administrations. They not only permitted this invasion; they condoned it and even encouraged it. This is part of the Democrats' plan to destroy and redo American and Western Culture.

Muslims and the political movement of Islam (It's not a religion) are part of their plan, as well as Socialism/Communism. Democrats are willing to tear down our country to recreate it in a vision of their own choosing, which Americans most assuredly will not want anything to do with.
