Brushfires of Freedom

The time has come for patriot Americans, who value traditional America that brought us through the first 250 years, to step up and protect what our Founding Fathers gave us. The founders committed their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to produce the closest to perfect government yet devised by mankind, although our form of government is not perfect and never will be perfect because the weakness and foibles of human beings will always get in the way. 

America’s form of government has survived and its citizens thrived far better than any other in history.

Now here we are in 2026, facing an existential threat by the evil purveyors of the worst form of government ever tried on the planet. The theory of communism has never worked wherever it has been tried, and hundreds of million human beings have died at the hands of those who thought they were smart enough to make it work.

George Washington read the piece below during the winter his troops were encamped at Valley Forge. What Paine wrote very likely saved the revolution that created America.

“These are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will in this crisis shrink from the service of their country, but he that stands it now deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have the consolation with us that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheaply, we esteem too lightly; it is dearness only that gives anything its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its good; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as freedom should not be highly rated.” ~ Thomas Paine

Here are the questions to ponder: Are we sunshine patriots who will shrink away from our duties to our government to show up at the voting booth? Are we only summer soldiers who are not willing to face down the dark cloud of communism that is hanging over our heads? Are we going to sit by silently while Islamists expand Sharia enclaves in America as they have done in Europe? 

Or are we going to step up and reignite the brushfires of freedom and liberty that made America great? Are we going to assure that our grandchildren and great-grandchildren have the freedom we have enjoyed growing up? Are we going to continue supporting the new Golden Age of America started by President Trump and his MAGA movement?

Yes, the choice is that simple. Make America greater than she has ever been or turn her over to the socialists and Islamist haters who want to destroy the United States Constitution and traditional America. If you want the former, then you and as many of your friends as possible must vote for Republicans who will best support President Trump for he next two years. If you want the latter, then simply vote for the haters or don’t vote at all.

Do these words of Paine and Adams mean anything to you? I certainly hope they mean as much to you as they do to me.

After a 55 year career as a professional pilot in the military, in law enforcement, in the private sector, and in federal civil service, I am now retired.
