REGINA, SK: The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is applauding Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s moratorium on Senate appointments. The CTF is continuing its call for a national referendum to ask Canadians where they stand on Senate abolition.
“Every Senator not appointed saves Canadians at least $138,000 per year in Senator salaries alone” said CTF Federal Director Aaron Wudrick. “It’s clear that the Senate is broken, and there’s no reason to wait for more pressure; the CTF is calling on all parties to commit to holding a national referendum to ensure that federal and provincial leaders have a clear mandate to move forward with abolition.” Todd MacKay, CTF’s Prairie Director Aaron Wudrick, the CTF’s Federal Director
