People say, "Hey Rob, why do you pay attention to Chris Matthews? You're just giving his crazy opinions more publicity. Ignore him, and he'll go away."
Here's my response:
Chris Matthews is the standard-bearer of far left thought. Democrats don't want you to know it but he's the one guy who, on a regular basis, is willing to say what they all think. Behind closed doors, when they're sipping San Pellegrino and eating watercress sandwiches, this is the kind of stuff they discuss. Matthews' rants may be inane, but they represent the true beliefs of the Obama faithful, before they've been filtered for public consumption.
Matthews, however, has no governor on his motor mouth. He goes from zero to stupid in the blink of an eye, and he's at his happiest when he's spouting the left's most deeply held convictions. That's why it's so important to make sure they're heard. If I had my way, Chris Matthews would be the official spokesman for his party. Someone needs to give him Jay Carney's job. His proclamations belong on the front page of every American newspaper because people deserve to hear the unfettered truth of Democrat beliefs.
Plus, he's hilarious.
So enjoy this Matthews highlight, where he decides to announce that Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, and Mike Lee are terrorists. It's a rant so ridiculous that even a statist goon like David Axelrod doesn't want to be seen embracing it. Rest assured, though, he does - when he's behind closed doors.
