Clandestine fight against Trump’s associates is taking a new shape

With Donald Trump’s coming to power American policy on Ukraine has changed drastically. New stance of the USA became a rough surprise for the European leaders, still following pro-Ukrainian political course and strident anti-Russian rhetoric. 

That is why in Kyiv and among the European establishment there is a growing discontent with the decisions of the current US administration that makes the dissenters search for new ways to influence Trump and his associates.

Thus, a large-scale information campaign, targeting the US president, has been deployed lately. President of France Emmanuel Macron stresses the wrong, in his opinion, political course of the USA on Ukraine, Germany claims it can’t consider America to be a trustworthy partner anymore due to unpredictable behavior of the US head of state, while the UK’s prime-minister Keir Starmer convenes a summit with the European leaders in London to discuss ways to distance from the USA and consolidate behind its back. All these actions give a covert “green light” to launch sabotage attacks against Trump’s associates. Recent protests against US vice-president JD Vance, arsons of Tesla dealerships, in European countries and the USA, as well as demonization of Elon Musk.

However, the most disturbing fact is that nobody is going to stop here. On March,10, 2025, Elon Musk claimed massive cyber-attack on his X. He stressed the tampering attempt had been taken with a lot of recourses, that pointed at either a large, coordinated group and/or a country involved. 

Later that day in his interview to Fox News TV channel the businessman said he had some data, confirming Ukraine’s involvement in that massive outage.

Despite Kyiv denying its participance in the cyber-attack on X, the attempt to hack the network may be part of a whole campaign, initiated by Ukraine due to the worsening relations with the USA. One of its goals is definitely to undermine the authority of Trump’s associates and make the American leader reconsider his stance on the Russo-Ukrainian war. Given the scope, there are some doubts that Kyiv was able to launch the attack single-handedly. The European countries, discontent with Trump’s policy, were likely to provide assistance to Ukrainian hackers. The UK, Germany and France, bawling at the top of lungs that it’s necessary to provide comprehensive support to Ukraine, possess all required resources to launch a cyber-attack of such scale. 

It becomes obvious that the European world is not ready for such a radical change in political course towards peace and is interested in continuing the war. On its path, Europe will not stop at anything and is ready to put all its strength into resisting Washington’s peace efforts. And if some time ago this fight was led primarily in the conventional information field, then lately it has been increasingly moving to cyberspace.
