Col. Russell Williams Tied to Paul Bernardo
Authorities looking into the accused killer Williams' background discovered a possible connection to schoolgirl killer Paul Bernardo back in the 1980s.
Canadians were shocked last week by the arrest of Col. Russell Williams, 46. The military commander of Canada’s largest air force base, CFP Trenton, was charged with two counts of first degree murder and two counts each of forcible confinement and break and enter and sexual assault. Williams was remanded in custody after being arrested on Feb. 7.
Alleged Crimes of Russell Williams
On Nov. 25, 2009, the body of Cpl. Marie-France Comeau, 37, was found in her Brighton Ontario home. The 12-year military veteran had worked as a flight attendant at CFP Trenton for the previous six months. Just prior to her death she had returned from India where she had worked as a crew member on the jet that took Prime Minister Stephen Harper to and from that country. Williams, a pilot, had previously flown politicians and other dignitaries on government Challenger Jets.
