As the Internet as a research tool and form of communication it has also become stomping grounds for scam artists.

In 2007 alone, ten and a half million cases of Internet fraud were reported to the Federal Trade Commission in 2007, and the actual number of cases is more than likely much greater as many cases are not reported. Even the Better Business Bureau has fallen prey to cyberspace fraud. Scamsters have stolen the Bureau’s logo and e-mailed companies’ high-ranking executives requesting information, claiming that the company was reported to the Better Business Bureau for unethical or illegal practices.
