Creating Safety Under Moreno Mayoral Hegemony

Helena Moreno's New Orleans mayoral victory is a defeat for public safety, homeland security and Black autonomy.

It also relegates ideological minorities (conservatives, independents, 'no party' folks) to 'untouchable' status pushed to the margins of discourse impacting their lives.

Those of us who opposed her are now shut out of even the pretense of input in safety matters, especially self defense and police misclassification of calls for service.

My best advice is to arm yourselves with weapons you can competently and comfortably carry because she will support even less enforcement targeting violent traitors who in turn targets community members.

Travel in pairs because car jacking, armed robbery, street intimidation and theft will skyrocket as she and her top supporter, non-prosecuting DA Jason Williams, conspire to keep as many criminals on the street as possible.

For the bolder among us, open carry as visual deterrent-and protest-becomes another option against expected 'anti safety' policies from this mayor-elect.

Lastly, political differences will need to be tabled in order to counter expected 'anti safety' policies by reaching out to 'pro safety' Republicans like Louisiana Governor Jeff Landy and the Trump administration.

Failure to do so empowers a mayor-elect intent upon disempowering us, Black advocates and conservatives of all stripes alike.

Their projected New Orleans National Guard deployment, with federal and state law enforcement support will be the only effective policing present.

Also, as with the DC Metropolitan Police Department, we must call for a US Justice Department investigation into how the NOPD classifies crime to expose suspected misclassifying of serious offenses into lesser ones.

These are my initial suggestions for creating safety under Moreno mayoral hegemony.
