Anyone buying that? No? OK

Neil Gorsuch has been confirmed to a lifetime SCOTUS appointment, there's nothing they can do about it, and Democrats are furious. Lefties who demanded the "nuclear option" be employed when they were in power, are simply aghast that the GOP has called Harry Reid's bluff and used it against them. Remember, as Reid famously said, "Let them do it, why would we care."
Well, suddenly - and I can't imagine why - they care. They care a lot. Even though they did it first, they're outraged that the GOP would do something so uncouth, so vile, so ...barbaric. Upon witnessing this grotesque transgression, at least one of the noble and true-hearted Democrat wants to set things right. Ed Markey (D-MA) can't wait to restore the Supreme Court appointment filibuster and he promises Dems will do it just as soon as they re-take the Senate and the White House. Anyone buying that? Anyone? Anyone, anywhere? No? OK. Good. That's very wise of you.
The fact is, Dems are thrilled to see the 60-vote requirement gone. They were, without question, gearing up to do it themselves - and they'd absolutely do it if they were in power. If we woke up tomorrow in a horrific alternate universe where Hillary Clinton won the last election, they'd nuke that filibuster so fast it would throw the Earth off its axis. Ed Markey's been languishing in Government since Gerald Ford was President and he's become most famous for phoning it in during Congressional hearings. After almost 40 years in office, you'd think he could point to an accomplishment other than "staying there." He can't. He's the epitome of federal officials who "like to be on TV." What he's really promising here is: "As soon as we have the votes to exceed the 60-vote threshold, we'll restore the 60-vote threshold." They won't but, if you're a left-wing true believer, it probably sounds good. ...On TV.
