Do You Have A 'Self' To Develop?

For a lifetime I've been a self-directed learner, with a particular passion for self-help and self-devlopment content. Thus passion led me to buy audio programs and books from leading late 20th century influencers like Dennis Waitley, Wayne Dyer ,Tony Robbins, Maxwell Maltz and a personal favorite, Les Brown, also known as, 'The Motivator.'

My sense of 'self' recoils at choosing to wear a philosophical straight jacket in order to appease someone else egotism

I've always had a strong sense of 'self,' meaning I'm intrigued with exploring my own unique potential as well as that of others.

I just asked myself moments ago, "why does it seem like some folks have no 'self' to develop?" They follow rules and roles laid down by stronger willed persons whose greatest strength is getting receptive individuals to conform to a worldview that solely benefits these stronger willed people.

While I understand society has moral and legal guardrails most of us follow, I reserve the right not to accept a manipulator's definition of what's possible for me to do, learn or become.

My above-mentioned sense of 'self' recoils at choosing to wear a philosophical straight jacket in order to appease someone else egotism.

One of the most exciting things about being human is the unique potential we each possess.

One of the most monstrous crimes in my estimation is artificially limiting unique human potential through miseducation and political manipulation. Such toxic processes lead to weaker willed masses whose personal universes are mapped out by stronger willed overseers and overlords.

With that grim prospect in mind, is it any wonder that I ask, 'do you have a 'self' to develop,?' Those who openly, or subconsciously, feel they have no unique 'self' to develop run a real risk being manipulated for a lifetime and generations beyond.

Develop your 'self!'

It beats the alternative.
