Black boys and men already navigate negative misperceptions, so why tear our image down even further by embracing authentically negative styles and behavior?

Don't Look Like You're Auditioning To Play An Urban Henchman

Disturbing numbers of young Brothers dress and act like they're from Central Casting of some production looking for stereotypical urban henchman types.

A group of Brothers exited a car in front of me a few hours ago looking as if they were sent from central casting to portray this role.
Supporters of the look may say because I'm a Gen (Malcom) Xer, I don't understand modern styles and customs.

I correct them by noting this phase of popularized urban henchman attire and mannerisms began when I was a boy, brought in by elevation of then-teen crack dealers to demigod status in destroyed inner cities. This pattern of self destruction continues to this very day with Millennial and Gen Z mayhem, which puts urban henchmen of my era to shame--by survivors own admission no less!
Seeing so many young Black men carry themselves in such a fashion is more than a generational divide, it's a red flag warning that community destroyers are in your midst.

This isn't right wing, racist paranoia, as supporters and those too scared to speak up say. Unlike racist right wingers and professional critics of Blackness they employ, I'm only addressing Brothers who dress and act like they're auditioning for a gangsta rap video or movie.

I know not all Black boys and men conduct themselves like urban henchmen. That's one reason why I speak out about this and related issues on behalf of Brothers who aren't detrimental to our community.

As conservatives outside of our community and Black people who may or may not be conservative stealth mobilize against politically enabled crime and disorder (constitutional carry is a direct tactical response to this embraced stereotype), my advice to younger Brothers is simple: don't look like you're auditioning to play an urban henchman in a music video or movie.
