The Journal's editorial is fair enough, but in the meantime, many people have been killed by automobile, snowmobile, skiing, hiking, etc. We can never know how many of the vehicle deaths are deliberate. So this extremely isolated case, shows the justice system failed, since Burns is one guy who should have been in a registry of people prohibited from the ownership of guns based on their criminal history or activities.
But real criminals are protected by the incomplete and error-riddled gun registry, which police would be suicidal to trust, and it attains the exact opposite result. The gun laws as they stand only adversely affect law-abiding people. The Burns killings only show how futile and flawed the upside down gun registry law truly is.
