Before the election last year, many of you signed a
petition in support of Father James Altman, who faced sanctions for stating that, in 2020, one cannot be both a Catholic and a Democrat.
Still facing possible reprimand, Fr. Altman has continued his strong criticism of Joe Biden and his new administration.

But, right now, Fr. Altman is being targeted by local and national media, in a media-manufactured controversy, falsely accusing him of "flouting COVID protocols" and sharing "vaccine misinformation," both claims which he vehemently denies.

The goal of this media-created firestorm is, undoubtedly, to attempt to persuade Fr. Altman's bishop, Bishop Callaghan, to remove him from his position as pastor at St. James the Less, in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
Three important actions to support Fr. Altman
But, the media must not be permitted to interfere with Church affairs, or to smear the ministers of the Church without response from faithful Catholics.
Could we ask you to take three important actions to support Fr. Altman?
First, would you please take a minute to contact the Diocese of LaCrosse, to politely and prayerfully voice your support for Fr. James Altman?

Bishop Callaghan has, so far, allowed Fr. Altman to continue to serve as pastor of the parish of St. James the Less. Please encourage him to ignore Fr. Altman's critics, whose motivation seems more political than spiritual.
Second, could you take 5 minutes to write a quick note of encouragement to Fr. Altman?
Courageously telling the truth, against a media onslaught, can take its toll on the best among us. Please write Father a note, telling him how much you appreciate his leadership on the critical issues facing the Church and the nation today.
