This week I went pricing for a flat screen television and I found a couple I was interested in and of course I was looking for a deal. I was trying to get the wireless connector thrown in with the flat screen for free and I was being successful. The manager looked up the price (his cost) on the store’s computer and it was $20.00 so it would of been ok to grab this with the flat screen for free – ya, free - wait a minute, I’m not sure what that means in the retail business.
The cost of the wireless adapter was $20.00 and they were selling it in the store for $130.00 plus taxes now I guess I was getting it free, but, the consumers and our economy at retail prices was getting gouged to where it is today, where people cannot afford the high prices the stores are asking. I believe in free enterprise but my tolerance level is somewhat thin on being gouged and you know what... so is the economy across Canada.
Oh, ya, what is the real price of those flat screens I was looking at? Hey, maybe just above free...
