Washington, D.C. - Sen. James Inhofe (R. Okla.), Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works today introduced an amendment to the Economic Development Revitalization Act of 2011 (S. 782), which will reduce the Economic Development Administration's (EDA) authorization level from $500 million to $300 million.
"Today I am proposing an amendment that will cut EDA's authorization level from $500 million to $300 million," Senator Inhofe said. "In these challenging economic times, Congress must do everything possible to tighten the belt - and even President Obama has acknowledged that EDA's spending levels must be reduced to help ‘control spending and reduce the deficit.' EDA has been a success story in Oklahoma, but if we are to continue this effective job-promoting program we must make sure that the final Economic Development Revitalization Act is the most fiscally sound bill possible."
