California regularly faces flooding, wildfires, earthquakes, mudslides, and bankruptcy. Now, they have a new problem. Janet Napolitano has resigned from her post as Secretary of Homeland Security, and will be heading for the left coast.
When she reaches the Golden State, she'll take a position as President of the University of California system. So, parents, if you're looking to send your kids to a good college, be sure to avoid the one run by Big Sis.
Currently, Napolitano earns a staggering $199,700.00 per year to spy on every facet of American life. She's expected to take home triple that salary in her new job. Who says U.S. upward mobility is dead?
President Obama praised Napolitano this morning, saying that "Since day one, Janet has led my administration's effort to secure our borders, deploying a historic number of resources, while also taking steps to make our immigration system fairer and more consistent with our values."
Isn't that nice?
As for the University of California, they're thrilled to have her. In a statement, University of California Regent Sherry Lansing said that Ms. Napolitano's hiring was based on a unanimous vote because she "is a distinguished and dedicated public servant who has earned trust at the highest, most critical levels of our country's government."
If there's one thing Napolitano knows, it's "trust."
Good luck, California. You'll need it more than ever.
As for the rest of the country, don't fret. Surely President Obama will find someone even worse to replace her. Might we suggest John McCain?
