Please don't tell my super capitalist friends, but I'm not trying to sell you any pepper spray, pepper gel or other protection products, despite being an affiliate for a leading defensive device company.
Mums the word! 😉
Instead of money, please pay attention to these few words about less lethal self defense.
One tragic truth of armed self defense-which I've almost done twice-is once it's committed, the final decision on whether ballistic safety is justified no longer rests with you.
Police officers, prosecutors, judges and perhaps the 'court of public opinion' in the media will decide your fate.
Depending on politics, and applicable local, state (or international) law, you may end up with a pat on the back and a hearty, 'Good job!' by responding officers and detectives.
All involved would have determined your creation of ballistic safety was legal in the jurisdiction where it happened. Obviously this is welcome news, especially if the suspect didn't survive the confrontation.
Many self defense advocacy organizations, however, warn against not preparing for worst case scenarios. They promote membership packages offering post-use of force hotlines, attorneys on standby, bail coverage, counselilng and even renumeration for lost wages.
That's because numerous armed would-be self defenders find themselves under investigation, if not arrested, when the smoke clears.
Conversely, barring a rare fatal reaction, safety created using pepper spray or gel leaves suspects unhappy and unharmed.
Warning: some individuals mental condition or natural immunity may cause them.not to succumb to less lethal devices. While effective in the overwhelming number of cases, nothing is foolproof.
Ok, back to our regularly scheduled posting.
Relative lack of lethality is something to seriously consider since you could be held criminally responsible and liable in civil court.
I seriously consider these possibilities and support use of less lethal devices so people can get away from assailants in one piece without risking felony charges.
It's up each individual to search his or her own soul, and the law, to determine their comfort zone regarding personal protection.
I'm just your Brother in safety, sharing this topic for your consideration— for free!
Again, don't tell my super capitalist friends I didn't try a sales pitch.
Less lethal equals less legal risk in risky situations.
Choose wisely because you'll have to live with the consequences of your choice.
