For some reason it seems the candidate really like Rob and me, because they decided that in the closing days of the campaign they would all come here to Michigan.
Or maybe they really dislike us.
But one thing we already know is that left-wingers really dislike Sarah Palin, and there are lots of left-wingers at the University of Michigan. So perhaps it shouldn't have surprised anyone that this would happen. In fact, I'm sure some on the left will claim it's Palin's fault because she should have known she was provoking the precious dears by showing up and invading their safe space.
Protesters threw beer and opened a can of pepper spray during a visit from former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s (R) visit to the Town Pump Tavern in Detroit on Sunday night where she was slated to campaign for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and participate in an interview with Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly.
Palin was in Michigan as part of a series of stops in the state planned by the Trump campaign in the leadup to the election amid a tightening race in the state, which hasn’t been won by a Republican since 1988. Clinton currently leads by five points, according to an aggregate of polls, and has stepped up her presence in Michigan as well.
Shortly after Palin’s arrival at the Detroit bar, two men began to yell obscenities and anti-Trump rhetoric before they were removed by the owner. According to an eyewitness, a woman threw beer on the bar owner while he was walking the men out of the bar.
“I saw two guys being dispersed while Palin was talking (to the crowd), and they were being put out by what I understand to be the bar’s owner,” the eyewitness said. “And then this woman who was sitting at the bar, who was drinking a beer, splashed it on the owner as he was escorting the men out. This caused him to react in a violent way — he threw them all out.”
Once outside, the two men continued to cause a disturbance, knocking on the windows and yelling Palin’s name, prompting her to respond directly.
Is it a little cheap to highlight the behavior of one side's worst bad actors, knowing full well that there could be bad actors on our side as well? Maybe, except for the fact that apparently all the unrest at Trump rallies has been organized on orders from Hillary herself. It has long been my observation that it's the left that feels the need to disrupt and shout down its political opponents, insisting that their words constitute "hate speech" and all that.
The objective, as always, is to make the disruption a bigger story than what the person has to say. I guess it works, until people figure out that it's being done intentionally and that we really don't have freedom of speech in this country anymore. Oh sure, you won't be arrested for what you say. But the left will make it so much trouble for you to say it that you'll ultimately decide it's not worth the hassle, and the news media will cheerlead for the disruptors - so totally in the tank for an ideology have they become.
Not that Sarah Palin is going to be intimidated by this crap, obviously. But now matter how fearlessly she soldiers on, all the protesters have to do to become the center of attention - and the lead in the news story - is show up and do what they do.
A note to you Hillary supporters: Your candidate encourages all of this. Maybe you do too. I'd suggest you give that some self-examination type thought. Hillary will never change. Maybe it's not too late for you.
