Long Lines At The LCBO Shows That It's Time To Allow Grocery Stores To Sell Spirits

Toronto, ON – Ontarians from across the province are facing long lines at their local LCBO. Reduced store hours and increased demand have meant that consumers have been waiting in long lines just to enter the store to purchase their alcoholic drinks.

David Clement, Toronto-based North American Affairs Manager for the Consumer Choice Center (CCC), said "As we've previously argued, now would be a great time for the province to allow licensed grocery stores to sell spirits. "Allowing grocery stores to sell spirits, alongside the beer and wine they already sell, would help consumers by limiting their need for additional trips to purchase alcohol. On top of that, the province could expand sales without violating the Master Framework Agreement currently being negotiated with The Beer Store," said Clement.
