Male Spaces Lost In The Wake Of The Progressive Onslaught Must Come Back

While sitting at the lowest approval numbers of any party in recent history, the Democratic Party has come to partially understand a big problem. It has lost male voters across all demographic and class lines. In ascertaining how to win some men back, Democrats are floundering. According to uber-progressive Rolling Stone, “members of the Democratic Party elite have been pitching plans and multimillion-dollar ideas for how to win back young male voters, many of whom spurned Democrats last fall.

Democrats: ‘Speaking With American Men: A Strategic Plan’ 

One of these proposals, ‘Speaking With American Men: A Strategic Plan,’ went viral after receiving a brief shout-out in The New York Times on Sunday. Described as a $20 million effort to ‘study the syntax, language and content that gains attention and virality’ in male-dominated spaces (such as video games)…” (RollingStone, May 28, 2025)

That the Democratic Party was previously oblivious to this problem is shocking. More shocking is the complete denial of the reality created by those now conducting a study. The real problem is the Democrats’ role in the destruction of male-only spaces that helped develop men to fulfil their God given purposes as leader, protector and provider.

First, the fact Liberals act blindsided by the male loss of support shows shocking ignorance. Going back years ago, polls were noting that high school males had gone from 25% identifying as Liberal in 1970 to only 13% today (while women went up). The 2023 State of American men report was clear “Boys and young men increasingly embrace conservatism as a reaction to (hyper) feminism” and “Too many younger men believe feminism has gone too far” (Daily Mail, Aug. 1, 2023)

Among many, Psychotherapist Thomas Kersting warned: “12^th grade boys are kind of seeing through (anti-male stigmatism). We're creating this idea that if you're a male, there's something wrong with that and that you're bad…. I think young, 12th-grade boys are kind of seeing through this……. Everything is about advancing women…... the idea is that men have always dominated… (and) we want women and everybody to advance." (Fox News, Aug. 2, 2023)

Within higher education, women came to parity with men in 1982 and have steadily surpassed the number of men. For decades women have outnumbered men in university by 60% to 40%. (Brookings, Oct. 8, 2021)

The great harm to men has been the progressive destruction of traditional all-male spaces. Spaces used throughout history for men to develop each other in a way unique to men. Women also enjoyed the benefit of all-female spaces, where women are able to develop each other in a way specific to their gender. The difference, at least the 1970s, has been that women spaces remail in abundance, while male spaces have been crushed by the left to nothing but “video games”. For example, in education women enjoy the option of dozens of all-female colleges, while only four all-male colleges remain (US News, Sept. 24, 2024)

Going back to 1960, there were over 200 all-female colleges, but at that time there were dozens of all-male schools which have almost all been forced to gender integrate. The four all-male colleges are tiny and one is a HBCU. Women also have more all-female club options and support systems than men. The American Boy Scouts was founded with the specific mission to develop boys into men. The first edition of the American Boy Scout Handbook included former President Teddy Roosevelt’s “A Letter To Boys on Manhood” which admonished boys in scouting to learn to become protectors and providers and leaders through “Boy” scouts (Trail Life, June 11, 2019) 

Like so many such all-male organizations, after years of attacks by the progressive left, Boy Scouts was driven to become coed for regular scouts February 1, 2019

Another traditional bastion of American masculinity has been the combat arms (Infantry, Armor, Artillery) and special operations of the American military. The purpose of these “spaces” is to defeat enemies, though secondarily these have also provided a proving ground and honing of manhood throughout American history. When in 2015 the Obama Administration decided to go against over 240 years of experience to make these coed, the Marine Corps provided rock solid testing data that going coed would harm lethality (Marine Corps Times, Sept. 10, 2015)

The data at the time was also clear that very few women would desire to go into the Infantry and Special Operations. This numbers argument was used in the early 1970s for women to be integrated into non-combat arms from the WAC. At that time, the new all-volunteer military with a large Army of the Cold War needed the numbers women could provide to the non-combat arms. The primary effect of women in combat arms now is ending the all-male environment.

Young men know they are suffering the effects of being denied their traditional spaces due to progressive attacks. The Democrats mention “video games” for alleged male dominated space without considering the moral bankruptcy of this situation. A situation they have wrought. Organizations like Boy Scouts and at least a couple dozen all-male colleges (particularly military) should be included as the spaces.

In 1 Corinthians 16:13, the Apostle Paul writes under God’s inspiration “Act like men, be strong”. It’s time for the progressive left and all American society to take heed of how we are raising the treating of our young men beyond video games.
