Meteorological Forecasting Stone

Outside a tourist trading post on the TransCanada Highway in northwestern Ontario may be found a modern version of the famed philosopher’s stone. Suspended from a rope attached to a sturdy frame is a modest hunk of the Canadian Shield together with instructions for its interpretation:
