Bulger's Mother Outraged over Comments by Children's Commissioner
Murder of James Bulger was “Unpleasant”
Denise Fergus, mother of slain toddler James Bulger, is calling for the resignation or firing of Dr. Maggie Atkinson, for her description of James' murder.
In February 1993, two-year-old James Bulger was taken away from his mother at a U.K. shopping mall, beaten, tortured and killed. Shortly after his body was found, two 10-year-olds, Jon Venables and Robert Thompson were arrested. They were subsequently tried as adults and convicted of the brutal murder. After spending eight years of a life sentence in custody, both were released and provided with new identities by the government.
Venables lived in virtual anonymity until February 2010 was he was taken into custody again. The government, in order to protect future prosecution and his identity, refused to say why he was confined again. It appears that it has something to do with allegations that he was involved with child pornography.
