Clifton Glamping
New Zealand has several new unique stays available for guests looking for something in nature and a bit out of the ordinary. Clifton Glamping
Clifton Glamping is perfect for those who love to camp, but want all of the comforts of home. This luxury glamping site overlooks the picturesque Maraetotara River in Hawke’s Bay and feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of modern living. At this fully working farm with 5,000 sheep, gaze across the river or up at the stars from the deck of the beautiful canvas safari tent set on a permanent timber floor; luxuriate in the super king bed with beautiful linen, feather duvets and woollen blankets; enjoy the comfy furniture and perfectly appointed little vintage-style kitchen and the bathroom with its hot running water and steaming shower; and wake up to the sun rising over the river, the sound of birds, and the gentle splash of fish in the river. Enjoy a dip in the swimming hole, a walk or cycle on one of the many tracks in the area, and at the end of the day – stargaze to your heart's content in a hot steaming outdoor bathtub. Rates start at $290 NZD per night (approx. $260 Cdn).

The Olive House

The Olive House, a new addition to Kaikoura's upscale Hapuku Lodge, is a free-standing building that originally housed the property's olive press. The Olive House re-emerged as a beautiful three-bedroom apartment on two floors, with the ground floor bedroom wheelchair accessible. Hapuku Lodge is a contemporary country hotel located on a deer breeding farm in the South Island of New Zealand, 12 kilometres north of the renowned eco-marine town of Kaikoura. It sits snugly at the base of the Kaikoura Seaward Mountain Range, with the Kaikoura coast and famed Mangamaunu Bay only a kilometre to the east. The Lodge provides luxurious accommodation on Kaikoura’s rugged coastline, a place for guests to relax in its intimate indoor/outdoor setting, and a place from which they can explore the larger maritime landscape of Kaikoura. Two-bedroom rates accommodating four people at the Olive House start at $2,433 NZD per night (approx. $2,182 Cdn). The Olive House

Kauri Tree Hut

Kauri Tree Hut is just 100 km north of Auckland, in beautiful Mangawhai. Kauri Tree Hut is made up of three little huts – a bedroom hut, bathroom hut and kitchen hut – all connected by a surrounding deck. The three huts are built on stilts deep in the native bush, with Kauri trees coming up through the deck and all around the huts. The huts have been lovingly restored and beautifully styled, with every detail thought through. Large opening doors and windows connect you to the natural surroundings. A ladder takes you up to the mezzanine loft space in the bedroom hut, which has beanbags and cushions for reading and relaxing. A deep, oversized bath and outdoor shower give you the chance to truly relax with nature, in complete privacy. Relaxing in the hammock or swing chair provided, you'll hear the lazy trickle of the gentle creek that runs along the bottom of the property. Native birds flit through the surrounding bush, and at night, you may hear kiwi. The spectacular views, just a short walk from the huts, allow you to take in the sunset over the surrounding hills and ocean. Rates start at $290 NZD per night (approx. $260 Cdn). Kauri Tree Hut
