North Shuswap residents at odds over response to raging Bush Creek wildfire

Dozens of residents from communities on the north side of Shuswap Lake defied evacuation orders ahead of the Bush Creek fire to protect property and are now increasingly at odds with regional and provincial officials over their efforts to continue.

Contractor Ross Rathbone is one of the volunteers who has been in the community since Friday night, helping to co-ordinate efforts to stamp out spot fires threatening properties. He has counted more than 100 homes destroyed in the fire that swept through the area Friday and Saturday. ---More...
