Not So Fast

Probably most AFP/CFP readers are exceedingly pleased with what is going on with the administration of President Trump 47. As we are doing out euphoric happy dance, there are some fundamental issues we shouldn’t forget. What DOGE and Trump’s MAGA teams are doing is magnificent and what much of America has been waiting decades for. 

However, in our enthusiasm, what has been done so far can be undone just as fast. As Trump and Musk have been fixing our broken government, it will only be temporary unless Congress codifies “the fixes” by law and, in some cases, by Constitutional amendments. The next rogue president can cancel Trump’s executive orders just as fast as Trump has cancelled Biden’s executive orders.

This is where We the People come into the equation. We must pressure our state’s Congressional delegation to man up and do the job they have sworn to do when we sent them to Washington. That is to pass the necessary legislation to prevent the massive corruption that has been allowed to occur during the last 50 years. Permanent safeguards must be in place.

If your representatives have any questions, have them read the United States Constitution. Then all they have to do is shrink the federal government back to the enumerated powers granted by the Constitution. Send everything else back to the states and We the People as defined by the Constitution. As usual the answer is simple common sense, but fixing what has been broken for nearly 100 years will take time and effort. The operative word is effort, a concept not well known in Congress.

It is easy to identify the worst elected corruptocrats in Congress. They are the ones who are fighting the effort to uncover corruption the hardest. President Trump, Elon Musk, and the kids working in DOGE are slaughtering the sacred cash cow that has been keeping the Washington swamp and Beltway Bandits afloat for so long.

I am waiting with great anticipation for the moment names start getting attached to specific corrupt programs and the resulting dollars. When that starts, I expect a lot of resignations, and these crooks will start heading for countries with no extradition treaties with the United States.

CYA (cover your *ss) is operating on steroids inside and outside the Washington Beltway Bubble. Corruptocrats of every stripe are ducking and trying to cover their tracks. However, the technology of the DOGE Blitzkrieg is operating at the speed of Trump which the corruptocrats were just not prepared for in their world of “it was more important to look like you were doing something, rather than actually doing anything.”

Our job is to keep our Congressmen/women’s and Senators feet to the fire to make the permanent changes necessary to make future corruption as difficult as possible.

After a 55 year career as a professional pilot in the military, in law enforcement, in the private sector, and in federal civil service, I am now retired.

In many of these positions I repeatedly took an oath to defend the United States Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic.
