Officials: No public health risk after leak at New York State nuclear power plant

BUCHANAN, N.Y. – New York's governor says state officials will investigate after radioactive material was detected in the groundwater below a nuclear power plant north of New York City.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says Saturday that water contaminated by tritium leaked into the groundwater at the Indian Point Energy Center. Officials say the contamination has remained contained to the site and that there is no risk to the public. Cuomo, a Democrat, says the state's environmental conservation and health departments will investigate. More...
