SAN GABRIEL, Calif., -- Today the friends of the Claretian Missionaries and the Missionaries of Perpetual Adoration will be celebrating the 34th Anniversary Mass for Fr. Aloysius Ellacuria, CMF at the San Gabriel Mission. In the past it has been quite an event.
Read about it here. This year developments include the "opening session" of the cause of sainthood for Fr. Aloysius scheduled for June, 2015. Archbishop Jose Gomez recognized the 'Association for the Beatification and Canonization of Fr. Aloysius Ellacuria, C.M.F.' It has permission from the church to raise the monies necessary for the cause. Dr. Andrea Ambrosi has been appointed postulator. He is the canon lawyer from Rome, who will present the cause at the opening session in June. The "witness list" has been submitted. The Tribunal is now coordinating the date for the "opening session" with the postulator so that he can make his travel arrangements. The tentative date is in June 2015, less than 7 weeks away. This will be historical for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, as there has never been a sainthood cause here. It's also timely, just before the planned canonization of Blessed Junipero Serra, founder of the California Missions.
