Last week, we learned that former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort had been more or less demoted in the wake of a personnel shakeup. Then we started to hear rumblings that he was involved in some very shady, and undisclosed, foreign lobbying. Now, we've learned that Trump has cut him loose.
Paul Manafort is headed for the guest bedroom at Lewandowski manor:
It seems clear that one of three things happened: Either Manafort was angry about his diminished role, the new brass pushed him out as part of their course-correction, or he's being dumped ahead of a scandal. Unless there's another shoe to drop with the lobbying, it's unlikely that we'll ever know what really went on behind closed doors.
