Shrinking 'Big Safety' In New Orleans

'Big safety' is on my mind, as usual. It means favorable conditions for reasonably robust self defense, proactive private security, policing productively and highly energetic homeland security.

I'm thinking about it within a 'blue' (translation: Democratic establishment enmeshed) city that is anything but a model for 'big safety', though I applaud (and am suspicious of) reported crime declines and a deep deployment to secure recent Taylor Swift weekend performances and sea of friendship bracelet-bearing 'Swifties'.

My applause is withheld for violent traitors still treated like royalty by this enabling ideology.

I'm not clapping about a failed attempt to skirt Louisiana's constitutional carry law by a state representative who mislabeled my suggestion of enhanced penalties for armed, convicted car jackers and robbers as 'mass incarceration' without batting an eye???

I'm also not putting my hands together for a still-ongoing end-run around constitutional carry masterminded by New Orleans police superintendent. Her aversion to private gun ownership is on full display as a California police executive armed with a law degree.

Local commitment to 'big safety' faces a daunting series of tests as Election Day nears, major national and locally observed global holidays are on the horizon and first quarter 2025's Superbowl (a national security event) and Mardi Gras, another massive safety challenge, await.

Embedded trends shrinking 'big safety' in New Orleans must be checked or we may host hair-raising mass casualty incidents inflicted by apolitical criminals and politically motivated terrorists.

This is the best reason to create local 'big safety', one upon which reasonable people across ideologies can agree.
