A UK gallery is hosting a solo exhibition of an internationally acclaimed artist.
Balman Gallery in Corbridge, Northumberland has invited Kevin Day to exhibit a large number of his works from March 1 to April 19. Kevin is renowned for his figurative oil paintings and often his work is inspired by films. “I am very excited about this exhibition,” says Kevin, who is also showing two of his Alan Shearer paintings in a separate exhibition about Newcastle United with Balman Gallery at the Discovery Museum in Newcastle, which runs until October.
Having gained collectors worldwide and exhibited in major galleries in London and Italy, Kevin Day has gained much recognition in a remarkably short period of time. Kevin’s school of thought, conscious or not, is that each painting portrays a sense of soul and mood. "Even the simplest portrait or still life possesses qualities that move the viewer and leave a lasting impression," he says. "It is this force of communication that is my drive and purpose as a visual artist." The main body of Kevin's work is figurative narrative working mainly in oils as well as charcoal sketches. Taking influence from Sargent, Vermeer, Sorolla and Le Page, he depicts people in everyday scenes and environments or in staged scenarios where the figures are played as if characters in a film. Although working using traditional methods he retains his own dynamic individual style.
