That may be what a 32-year-old Chesterfield Township man charged with retail fraud thought last month when he complained to Macomb County sheriff's deputies about not feeling well. The unidentified prisoner was rushed to Mt. Clemens Regional Medical Center that Nov. 6 evening.
He then wriggled out of his handcuffs, grabbed a syringe off a cart in the ER and threatened cops with it. The suspect ignored a deputy's order to drop the makeshift weapon, so the unidentified ailment that brought him to the hospital quickly became a gunshot wound to the chest. He was dead an hour later.
