If you have been following the Brett Kavanaugh saga you get the feeling there is more to this than just a "he said - she said" thing. You get the feeling you are witnessing the struggle for the soul of a nation. For America it is the both the best and worst of times. The blessing of a booming economy and a nation presently at peace around the globe is offset by a deadly threat to the cherished values of a free nation and even democracy itself.
The spectacle of an almost totally biased media and Democrats viciously attacking a man who should be presumed innocent until proven guilty is alarming and disgusting. It goes against everything America has traditionally stood for. Gary Bauer, of the Campaign for Working Families, states that it is the stated opinion of Democratic senators that the due process of law and presumption of innocence does not apply to Kavanaugh because of his Christian convictions and that he must prove his innocence of the sexual assault allegations. So a man, who by all accounts has been a model citizen, family man, solid public servant and outstanding judge and who wants to serve his country on the nation’s highest court is being blatantly denied due process of justice. Alan Dershowitz, the liberal Harvard Law professor said that Kavanaugh would be afforded the presumption of innocence if he was the pick of a liberal president in the White House. So a man who before his nomination was respected by all sides and approved by the Senate by a 57-36 vote with a brilliant judicial mind and and impeccable record as a judge, and who has already been subject to no less than 6 full FBI investigations is required by the Democrats to endure yet another one. Does anyone believe this latest demand will satisfy them when it is clearly their intention to destroy a good man? The great ancient Hebrew King David asked a most relevant question for our day. "If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?" (Psalm 11:3)
