The Democrat Party Must End Hatred Of Middle America To Survive

Quinnipiac just released its latest poll and the results should be a shock and wake-up call to Democrats. The favorability rating of the Democrat Party among American voters has dropped to a historic low of only 31%. This poll came after over a week of Trump’s multitude of actions reversing Biden policies (6 in 10 Americans support Trump’s primary actions), and so tells us the American people clearly wanted the complete reversal of Democratic policy with regards to the economy, border security, crime, DEI, government spending, etc. (Quinnipiac, Jan. 29, 2025)

This poll should be seen as an indicator the Democratic Party may soon go the way of the Federalist Party and Whig Party and cease to exist if it doesn’t reverse itself. Ironically, as near as 2023 the Democratic Party and political left felt such a sense of political superiority to the point renowned Pulitzer Prize-winning progressive writer, Jerry Saltz, admonished hundreds of thousands to cut off and 'shun' friends or family who had voted for any Republicans: “To his 603,000 Instagram followers on Sunday, Saltz wrote: 'If you know anyone who voted Republican—including friends and family—you should shun them. 'No need to even tell them that you are no longer communicating with them or why…. 'You own [sic] it yourself, to them, your country, and any idea of moral damage.'” (Daily Mail, March, 7, 2023)

Several Democrat supporting media personalities advocated the same. Many Democrats and supporting media moved from political disagreement to advocating censorship and “cancellation” of even family members due to alleged moral and/or intellectual superiority of Democrat ideas. This contempt for mainstream Americans believed best explains the election and the paltry level of support for the Democratic Party.

Democrat and progressive contempt for other Americans, particularly the white working class, is backed by solid data going back a decade. A 2017 poll showed the Left’s intolerance for the free speech of conservatives: “a new national poll of 2,300 U.S. adults, finds that 71% Americans believe that political correctness has silenced important discussions our society needs to have. The consequences are personal—58% of Americans believe the political climate prevents them from sharing their own political beliefs.

Democrats are unique, however, in that a slim majority (53%) do not feel the need to self-censor. Conversely, strong majorities of Republicans (73%) and independents (58%) say they keep (conservative) beliefs to themselves.”(Cato Institute, Oct. 31, 2017)

A few years back, Democrat actress Jennifer Lawrence wrote about her “fight” against conservative family and the need to cancel and shun family members for holding conservative beliefs. (RollingStone, Sept. 6, 2022)

Victoria Turner, Democrat editor of Young, Woke and Christian, claimed she could happily date a non-Christian or atheist. But answered “Absolutely not. No.” to even the consideration of dating a conservative Christian. (The Atlantic, Aug. 18, 2022)

Noted author Helen Lewis described the profound level of discrimination against conservatives by the left: “In countries where racial and religious intermarriage have become commonplace, dating across political lines is the new taboo.” (The Atlantic, Aug. 18, 2022)

In 2022, Conservative founder of Prager University, Dennis Prager, wrote about the disturbing trend of Democrat/Progressive contempt for others: “I know of this firsthand. Parent after parent calls my radio show, often close to tears, sometimes actually sobbing, pouring their heart out to me about being alone on holidays despite having children and grandchildren. 

In virtually every case, the parent is conservative, and the child is on the Left….. many leftists are indecent—and leftism makes them so, whereas neither liberalism nor conservatism makes people indecent. Leftism breeds ingratitude, victimhood, moral arrogance—and therefore cruelty

The screaming shutdowns of conservative speakers on campuses… and cruel treatment of parents.” Prager went on about how the increasingly Godless worldview of the new left has helped further the contempt: “religious people who believe they have to answer to God for their behavior are likely to treat their parents better than those who do not believe so. They believe that God commands them to honor their father and mother. There is no such command on the Left.” Important to note, Prager is Jewish and an outspoken critic of racism (Daily Signal, Dec.20, 2022)

The mainstream of the Democratic Party of the past disagreed with Republicans over policy, but generally held a healthy respect for individuals. Never would an “old” Democrat suggest cutting off Republican family members.

Both parties passed the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in the 1990s, including Joe Biden, to bar recognition of gay marriage.

Both parties agreed that abortion was a tragedy and should be “rare” as Democratic President Bill Clinton said, though disagreed on whether the mother should be able to abort. CNN ran “Crossfire”, in which staunch conservatives like Pat Buchanan would debate Liberal Democrats, and views of both sides were respected.

In the past two decades, Democrats/progressives became increasingly stalwart in demands to overturn society with radical ideology even to the point of child genital mutilation in transexual procedures. Any respect for those who disagreed with Democrats has turned into Democrat self-righteous contempt for opponents and calls to cut off conservative family members as a moral duty. Democrats need honest soul-searching and repentance before coming back to the American people asking for support.

We are one nation under God who, as our Declaration proclaims, created us equal and free to believe and speak. The days of Democrat arrogance and contempt for middle America is over.
