In 2013, Pavel Durov noticed a problem: it was too easy for government agencies to spy on their citizens. That’s why he created the Telegram app. Unlike other text platforms, messages sent on Telegram stay encrypted even when they reach the company’s servers.

It should come as no surprise that permanent Washington hated Durov’s idea, and he says that the FBI even tried to bribe him into reversing course. But he didn’t.

Pavel Durov recently sat down with Tucker for his first interview since 2016 to share that story and more.

By the way, TCN just started our own Telegram channel, giving us one more way to share exclusive material free from Big Tech censorship or government spying. We’d love to have you as a member. Click here to join.

Pavel Durov tells Tucker:

“One time, I was having breakfast at 9 AM, and the FBI showed up at my house that I was renting. That was quite surprising.”
