Troop Nola Gives Chase To Local Criminals Who Feel They're Above the Law

Troop Nola is a rare campaign promise come true when now-Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry promised New Orleans its own state police unit to combat local crime siege.

Four days this week yielded the same number of police chases and suspect crashes in a city whose federal consent decree is blamed for host agency, NOPD, not performing pursuits.

Troop NOLA seizes weapons, drugs and stolen vehicles through proactive patrols.

Local observers, crime enablers and safety enthusiasts alike, are commenting on this opening volley against area crime. Many Black ones are voicing approval, to the chagrin of community commissars.

I'm waiting for grim faced press conferences from crime enablers warning death and dismemberment riding along with every Troop Nola pursuit.

Their downward pressure on New Orleans Police Department stopping vehicles violating traffic-and other-law, including aggressive ATVs doing wheelies in front of marked units, set the stage for active enforcement by another agency.

Speaking of active enforcement, taking on illegal ATV riders was the first act of this ubiquitous unit.

Troop NOLA makes 3 arrests in connection with 'street takeovers' in New Orleans.

It served notice that the crime siege is now being challenged.

Candidly, I have reservations about Governor Landry's Ron DeSantis-esque heavy handedness with executive authority.
A longer standing reservation involves the Louisiana State Police itself and culture of callousnes and coverups culminating in the death of motorist Ronald Greene, a matter which may prompt their own federal consent decree.

‘Where’s Ronald Greene’s justice?': 5 years on, feds still silent on Black motorist’s deadly arrest.

I have no reservations about this fact:

Troop Nola is giving long overdue chase to local criminals who feel they're above the law.

Clearly that's no longer the case.

Bravo.
