Trump's Tariff Pledge: “Do Unto Others as You Have Them Do Unto You” (The Bible's “Golden Rule”)

That biblical concept might apply to the reasons why Trump is applying tariffs on other country's goods and products of the world. Trump has called them “reciprocal tariffs” which he claims will even the economic playing field, and to halt the tariff unfairness that other countries have used against the United States for decades.

Trump is trying to bring back industry, companies, and jobs back to the United States from overseas

The fear mongering Democrats are claiming that Trump's tariff's will cause a recession or worse, but from past experiences during Trump's 1^st term, the tariffs he imposed were a big money maker for the United States, and it didn't cause inflation or a business slowdown. (the pandemic did that). Using that scenario as a guide, the Democrats’ fears can be seen as a political ploy to undermine the policies of Trump and his administration because no matter what Trump does, says or proposes, their hatred for the person, Trump, prevails over anything else.

It is quite obvious, to an impartial observer, that Trump is trying to bring back industry, companies, and jobs back to the United States from overseas. He has claimed that if companies return to the United States to make their products and goods and services, no tariffs will be imposed on them. Already, before his executive order on tariffs were announced, over $3 trillion, and more coming, of foreign investment has been gained from having foreign companies pledging to come to the United States and set up operations.

As an example;

• Apple has announced a $500 billion investment in the United States which will create 20,000 new jobs; 
• Toyota has officially opened a new automotive battery manufacturing plant in North Carolina in a $14 billion facility that will create 5,000 new jobs; 
• The Paris Baguette Co., a bakery company, has opened a plant in Texas for $180 million which will create 450 new jobs; 
• Corning Co. plans to to invest $900 million in a new Michigan facility that will provide about 1,000 new jobs etc., etc. 

Trump wants to have a fair and balanced trade policy

You get the idea, that contrary to the “doom and gloom” predictions of the Democrats and their shills in the media, these new building facilities by companies and the newly created jobs as a result, is only scratching the surface of what the new Trump tariff policies might bring about in the future.

Remember, it took almost two years for Ronald Reagan's tax and economic policies to kick in to become the major economic boom for the rest of 1980s. That success carried him to an overwhelming win in the 1984 presidential elections as he carried 49 of 50 states.

President Trump has acknowledged that his tariff policies might cause some initial pain, but in the end you'll see a positive economic result.

The United States has been taken advantage of by friend and foe for too long a time. Trump wants to have a fair and balanced trade policy, whereby the United States is not made the patsy for other countries to take advantage of.

So, all the bluster of the Democrats about the tariff policies of what Trump has proposed, and the negative impact on the U.S. economy that they claim will occur, we must wait and see whether the tariff policies of Trump will succeed or fail. Many economists predict that his policies will succeed and generate a positive economic climate which has been long overdue. Let's hope the biblical concept of “Do Onto Others as You Have Them Do Unto You” prevails in the matter of Trump's tariff policies. God Bless America !
