U.S. Field Production of Crude Oil Within One Million Barrels Per Day of All-Time Record

With its latest data release, the U.S. Energy Information Administration has confirmed that field production of crude oil reached 9.046 million barrels per day in October.

This places production within only 998,000 barrels per day of the all-time production record: 10.044 million barrels per day set in November 1970. Although the recent slump in oil prices may curtail the production climb, if recent trends continue, the United States is on pace to set a new production record by mid-2015.
