Un-American Airlines Is At It Again

Last year, I wrote an article about an American Airlines snowflake flight attendant who inconvenienced a plane load of passengers due to his unprofessional behavior. If you don’t remember that incident, here is a quick recap.

A passenger, Joel Ghansham, who had recently had back surgery, asked a flight attendant to help him place his bag in the overhead compartment. The flight attendant responded flatly, “No, I don’t do that. I’m not being paid to do that.”

Later, the same attendant was serving beverages. Here is Ghanshyam’s description of what happened.

“He asked me if I wanted something to drink, but I didn’t respond because I didn’t want to cause a scene, and he asked again, and I said, ‘No thank you, waiter.’”

The snowflake attendant took issue with the “waiter” label and threatened to have the plane diverted back to JFK. Ghansham sarcastically remarked that the flight attendant must be God.

In the end, the prima donna snowflake did manage to have the plane return to JFK. Remember, this is an hour into a flight from New York to Georgetown, Guyana, and just because a passenger referred to him as a waiter, he wasted an entire plane load of passengers' time and energy.

Once the flight landed back in New York, a law enforcement officer boarded the plane and questioned Ghansham. However, when the officer learned what happened, he did not even bother to take down Ghansham’s statement. Prompting Ghansham to rightly ask:

“If I was rude or belligerent, wouldn’t they have arrested me?”

American Airlines then released the following ridiculous statement:

“American Airlines flight 2557, with service from New York (JFK) to Georgetown, Guyana (GEO), returned yesterday to JFK due to a disruptive customer. Safety and security are our top priorities, and we thank our customers for their understanding and our team members for their professionalism in managing a difficult situation.”

If you think American Airlines was totally off base in that situation, buckle up because they have outdone themselves in insensitivity. The airline is now facing a lawsuit over an incident in which one of its employees allegedly recorded a 9-year-old girl as she used an airplane bathroom. However, in their infinite wisdom, American is blaming the 9-year-old girl.

An attorney for the airline argued that the anonymous plaintiff "Mary Doe" should have been aware that she was being recorded in the restroom, according to court documents filed on Monday, as reported by the Independent.

The filing states:

“Any injuries or illnesses alleged to have been sustained by Plaintiff, Mary Doe, were proximately caused by Plaintiff’s use of the compromised lavatory, which she knew or should have known contained a visible and illuminated recording device.

American Airlines was sued after former flight attendant Estes Carter Thompson III was charged with a spree of bathroom recordings of children earlier this year, according to WMAQ-TV. Prosecutors believe that Thompson filmed passengers on board in at least five flights.

Not surprisingly, the family of the girl in question expressed outrage at the legal defense in remarks provided to the New York Post.

“I was absolutely shocked, and I think it’s outrageous,” family attorney Paul Llewellyn said of the argument.

“The idea that American Airlines and its lawyers would blame a 9-year-old girl for being filmed, in my opinion, just smacks of desperation and depravity. What on Earth is American Airlines thinking by adopting such a strategy?”

The girl’s mother was also outraged by the argument.

“How in good conscience could they even make such a suggestion?”

Thompson has pleaded not guilty to two federal charges: attempted sexual exploitation of children and possession of child sexual abuse material depicting a minor.

American Airlines argued that Thompson’s alleged illicit recordings occurred “outside the course and scope of his employment” in the same legal filing.

The carrier previously indicated that it took the charges against Thompson “very seriously,” the Post reported.

Sorry, American, this isn’t a multiple-choice answer. This pervert was employed by you and filmed young girls on your airline. If you take the charges against him seriously, then help prosecute him and stop blaming a 9-year-old girl for your incompetence.

Another question is this: was this freak hired under new DEI requirements?

No matter why he was hired, there is no justification for attacking a 9-year-old girl. Until you realize that, I won’t be flying the unfriendly skies in any of your tin cans, especially since they seem to be manned with snowflakes and perverts, and you couldn’t care less.
